HART.R8 for HARTLEY – INDOOR CYCLE CHALLENGE

SATURDAY 29 JULY 2017

Get your HART.R8 pumping during our 3 or 6 hour indoor cycle challenge! Your valuable support will help children and adults with physical and complex disabilities within our local community.

WHAT IS HART.R8 for HARTLEY?

  • Choose either 3 or 6 hours of heart pumping indoor cycling – the event is being run simultaneously at different gyms across Canberra on Saturday 29th July
  • Professionally trained gym instructors leading the fun filled sessions with fantastic music pumping the entire time
  • Choose either Individual x 3 hour ride ($32) or Individual x 6 hour ride ($58)
  • Or choose Team x 3 hour ride ($130) or Team x 6 hour ride ($200). Teams can have up to 4 participants via tag team (access to 1 bike)
  • Entry includes a water bottle

Pedal Power – Traffic Controller Course

Pedal Power ACT, in association with Roads ACT have scheduled a FREE Traffic Controller Course for the Cycling clubs and Community of the ACT for the past three years. Roads ACT have once again enabled FREE access to this training for two more dates in 2017.

The Traffic Controller training that is provided meets the NSW and the ACT requirements and provides the appropriate qualification to allow a registered person to control traffic at cycling (and other) events.

The Traffic Controller Training courses will be held for free for Canberra cycling clubs and cycling organisations in July and again in November. Spaces are limited for each training course.

Fully subsidised by Roads ACT these courses have been organised to assist in minimising costs on cycling clubs and organisations and help train volunteers, or club appointed marshals to fulfil the traffic controller duties at cycling events. We urge you to make use of this generous offer and assist your club and the broader cycling community by having more trained and skilled operators available for club and open events in the ACT. Please note ALL registrants must have a current driver’s license.

  1. Marshals are critical to the survival of our racing schedule as we simply cannot conduct races safely without them. Please note the policy on members marshalling a race a year to support club races athttps://actvets.cc/racing-with-us/marshal-schedule/. Note that members should not leave it to the last minute to try and find a replacement if they can’t make their allotted marshaling duty.

Saturday, 29th July: Dalton Graded Scratch

Where: Travel to Gunning, Left onto Dalton Road at Gunning, Approx 10Km to Dalton. Park in Quary at left 100 meters before town.
When: 1:30 pm.
Sign on: 15 mins before scheduled start time wearing your registered number.
Race Description:
Dalton – Gunning – Boorowa Rd ABCD do 2 laps Dalton to Gunning 1st Dalton U Turn at Start area. EFG do 1 lap. Then all head west on Boorowa Rd to end of bitumen (3k) and return to Dalton then north on Rugby Rd to end of bitumen (5k) and return to finish in Dalton.

RACE REPORTS:

Dairy Rd Points Race – 22nd July

On a fine day but somewhat windy we set up the course for the team point race thanks to Graham , Gunther and Tony things went well underway. Would it be too many late night to watch the TDF but we had a small turn up so we ditched the team bit and run the crit as an individual point race.

E F G started first

E grade saw a good battle between the ever young Des brown and Theresa McLachlan which did share the point followed by a distant Ian Morton. In this grade we had a new member Sue Akeroyd which did worked well with rosemary Robinson .

F Grade was a close first sprint won by Angie Wren then Angie took off to get maximum point with rest of the field fighting for second and third. Well done to Graham Lindsay and Hendrie Graham.

G grade Bernard Crowe did a nice tt as he was alone …where are you the G graders??

The second race was C and D

Having only two in C we raced the grades together, the sprints were a very close affair as Andrew Matz was doing a great job to beat the two C grader on the line few time. Eventually C grade was a draw with seven points each and no surprise D grade was won by Andrew Matz followed by Daniel Grillo and Shadbolt Matt.

A and B

A, after the first sprint lap Steven Crispin put the gaz on and dropped his bunch it was an impressive display from Steve as he was continuing to increase the gap, on the side we were wondering ..Why, then we thought the goal was to actually to lap his grade which Steve did with few minutes remaining with the wind still blowing slightly it was an amazing feat. The three other A’s were left to fight for minor place which taken by Michael Fould second and Savell-Boss Seymour third.

B with six riders was a close battle the sprints well fought, at some stage Nick Boylan took off for a few laps the bunch reeled him back before the final sprint which was won by Robert Langridge.

Graham martin took the honour followed by Robert Langridge and Kevin Wells.

Many thanks to Gunther David and Antony Beasley to help marshalling and off course to Graham Hendrie to set up and bring the van. Thanks to Andrew Matz which did help for the A and B race.
