Incorrect race number entries
We have had a couple of instances of people entering incorrect race numbers into RMS during race entry. If you do manage to do this, please contact the race committee and we can fix it.
New fold down speed signs
The ACT Government has kindly installed fold-down speed signs along roads used by Pedal Power and the ACT cycling clubs for events. Graham Hendrie was tasked with coming up with a solution to allow us to hold the signs open during races. Result: bull dog clip and a piece of string. Talk about hi-tech. We await his delivery of the accompanying smart phone app.

RACING THIS WEEK:
Saturday, 17th July – Lookout Hill Handicap
Reminder: All riders must pre-register on the ACT Vets website (https://rms.actvets.cc/calendar) by 16/07/2021 6:00 PM prior to the race. There is no registration on the day.
Any requests for Grade changes should be sorted out with the Handicapper prior to registration.
Where: Observation lookout on Tidbinbilla Road about 2.5 km towards Tharwa from Point Hut / Tidbinbilla Rd intersection (or about 4.5 km from Tharwa village).
When: 1:30 pm.
Race Description:
3.5km toward Tharwa, U turn, 5km toward Point Hut, U turn to Lookout Hill. 4 laps.

RACE REPORT:
Dairy Road – 10th July
Saturdays race went well and apart from one goose on a BMX wondering onto the track and challenging us about it being a public place there were no other issues – well maybe one, the ranger didn’t turn up with the key on time, this wasn’t a show stopper though.
Weather conditions were overcast, windy and cool.
The race was held in the usual clockwise direction as a graded scratch – I didn’t opt for any sprint primes as the conditions were bad enough without throwing in more torment!
A and B grade started on time and despite the low numbers in A grade they set a cracking pace with plenty of attacks, Christophe had a flat about ¾ of the way through the race and was offered a replacement wheel from the marshal “Daniel Lekhac”, with a quick change of the wheel Christophe was soon back in the mix. There was a slight mixup with the timing of the bell lap for A grade that may have caused some confusion “Sorry about that”.
B grade had a larger numbers with plenty of contenders willing to have a dig through out the race, It was a good bunch sprint at the end with not a lot separating the pack – I only managed to get the first five places so if you can remember you places drop Ian an email.
C and D grade racing was smooth with only one incident when Terry Moore slipped on some debris at the fare end turn, after a quick check the ensure everything was OK, Terry rejoined the race. Both grades held a steady pace finishing in a bunch sprint.
There was only one rider in E grade and two in F so these grades started together, with such low numbers there wasn’t anywhere to hide for a 30 minute hit out, Cat ended up puncturing leaving Chris and Dennis on their own to finish the race.
Well done to all who raced and thank you to Daniel for marshaling – maybe bring some warmer clothes next time Daniel!
