From the desk of the President
Congratulations to all those members who participated in the Sutton Drivers Training Course. I counted 201 of you, across the 6 events.
For many of us, it brought welcome relief to a long suffering winter.
The series could not have been run without the support of all of the members who stepped up to be race directors, marshals and van drivers, so thank you from all of us.
Behind the scenes, and invisible to most members is a flurry of activity that goes on. Please extend your thanks to committee members Michael Fawke, Rob Langridge, David Buckley for much of the organisation.
We have finalised the points from the series, which you can view here on the Club’s Google drive.
Below I am going to summarise the podium finishes across the grades.
Place | A | B | C | D | E |
P1 | Stuart Griffiths | Matt Benedetti | Kevin Wells | Ange Hookham | Ian Morton |
P2 | Tobias McLenaghan | Marc Vroomans | Tony Hrstic | Nick Boylan | David Gunther |
P3 | Matt McAuliffe | Ross Goggin | Stuart Roesler | Kevin Newhouse | Russell Marston |
The most interesting outcome occurred with many grades, because after double points were applied for Round 6, and bonus points were applied for finishing the whole series, several of the members phoenixed their way up the ladder to leap frog the former leaders.
I would like to highlight the winner of D grade, Ange Hookham who was the series winner outright before her bonus points were applied. Well done, particularly in her first year as a clubbie, and the fact that she has been up against some very wiley club stalwarts.
I will be notifying and sending the podium winners their prizes. This year we would like to thank Stuart Carling from Crankys Bicycle Worx for donating full bike service vouchers, and Dan Ward from Trek Phillp for bike wash vouchers.
Additionally we partnered with North Lyneham’s Choku Bai Jo market to supply vouchers for fresh and organic fruit and veg directly sourced from the farmers from Canberra & the surrounding regions.
Furthermore, I randomly generated from a pool of participants (excluding podium winners, and committee members) lucky draw winners for 11 bike washes, 1 food voucher, and 1 Crankys bike service voucher.
If your race number is one of 27, 173, 191, 204, 270, 383, 424, 451, 501, 550, 580, 637 – your lucky number’s up! Look out for a voucher mailed to your email or physical address.
Reduced Price Membership
Now available, reduced priced racing membership of $99 (same price as last year) for those new or renewing members wishing to join us financially for racing up to and including the Christmas criterium wheel race qualifier on 16 December 2025, or the equivalent track wheel race on 18 December 2025.
Criterium season
With spring, comes the announcement that crit season commences on Tues 7 Oct and will involve 21 criterium races at SFP including the Christmas wheel race qualifier on 16 December, and the Club crit champs in February 2026. We have set a price of $130 for the annual crit pass, noting that you will need to be a financial member in 2025 and in 2026, and a member in good volunteering standing to maximise full use of the seasonal crit pass. We have the crit races lined up and ready to publish in our RMS calendar, and we will be doing some development testing of our volunteer credits, before making it operational. You will be able to buy your $130 crit pass with your credit card online, or using a combination of volunteer credits and cash. Stay tuned for announcements about when we’re live for crit registration.
Good luck to all of the Masters who are contesting the Nationals this weekend!
