RACING THIS WEEK:
Saturday, 31st July – Lookout Hill – Time Trial – M & H Age Standard
Reminder: All riders must pre-register on the ACT Vets website (https://rms.actvets.cc/calendar) by 30/07/2021 6:00 PM prior to the race. There is no registration on the day.
Any requests for Grade changes should be sorted out with the Handicapper prior to registration.
Where: Observation lookout on Tidbinbilla Road about 2.5 km towards Tharwa from Point Hut / Tidbinbilla Rd intersection (or about 4.5 km from Tharwa village).
When: 1:30 pm.
Race Description:
20km TT course. Two laps of – Lookout Hill 3.5km toward Tharwa, U turn, 5km toward Point Hut, U turn to Lookout Hill.

RACE REPORT:
Smiths Rd – Naas Rd – Secret Handicap – 24th July
On a windy, cold but sunny afternoon we had 15 riders turn up for the Secret Handicap, the late close of entries (Saturday morning) saw an increase from 6 to 16 entries, although one person still decided the conditions were not optimal for performance!
After a quick briefing the riders were sent off for two laps of the Mt Tennant course (36km), with a strong tailwind assisting them. At the halfway mark we had riders coming through in line with their gradings, the start up Mt Tennant obviously assisting in some natural selection! The four A graders completed the first lap in 29 minutes and all together. Some quick back of the envelope calculations saw that probably only C grade were still in the hunt for first place honours (after applying handicap times).
Out on the course, Daniel Lekhac had left his A grade compatriots behind second time up Mt Tennant and came in for a fine solo effort to be first across the line and fastest time for the day. The other A graders weren’t far behind and the others came in maintaining their positions from the first lap, except for one unlucky puncture.
The weather wasn’t conducive to hanging around and the urn was struggling to overcome the wind beating down on it’s exposed position. By the time we’d matched up rider numbers to finish times there was no-one there to witness the reactions of the race officials. A quick double check from the back up timing and it was official. D grade had sneaked in with the Handicapper Rob Langridge claiming the win! No doubt he’ll promote himself now.
