WINTER TRACK TRAINING SESSIONS FOR NOVICES AND EXPERIENCED RIDERS

We are offering 2x 1hr track sessions every Sunday afternoon fortnight, with the next one on Sun 1 September 2-3pm, and ending on 15 September. The goal of this training is to stimulate and reinvigorate our track program. Participants must be members or trial riders to register and pay $5 per session online https://rms.crmcc.org.au/calendar?5021616 . We require a minimum of 2 riders to register to run these sessions. This is for track practice only, no racing, no moto-pacing.

We are also providing this opportunity for club members unacquainted with the art of fixed wheel riding, to come out and try track in the hope that you will join our Thurs afternoon racing program from October 2024. These track practice sessions will be staffed by knowledgeable ‘Club track wardens’, who will open up the velodrome for our booked timeslots, brief participants particularly novices about protocol and safety. Novices wishing to learn on one of the club’s donated track bikes should establish early contact with membership@crmcc.org.au so that we can fit you to the bike.

Note that the velodrome has a high bank and road bikes and street fixies are not appropriate for this venue. Please only bring your kids along as spectators if they are actively (not passively) supervised, due to the risk of serious injury with riders exiting and entering the velodrome gate.

You must wear your CRMCC assigned number to race. No number on the day, no race!

Race report for Iron Mike Handicap on Saturday 17 August

The weather didn’t do us any favours on the day. It was cold and overcast with intermittent showers but 40 riders showed up to brave the conditions to line up for the Iron Mike. 50km along Uriarra Road through the hills.

 Stephen Duncan (D grade) put in a huge effort to finish well clear of second place Steve Crispin (A grade) with Christophe Barberet (B grade) coming in third.

Many thanks to the marshals who enabled this event to proceed;

  • Start/Finish: Rob Langridge, Jonathan Chowns
  • Uriarra Crossing: Neil Burton
  • Brindabella Rd Intersection: Terry Moore
  • End of Bitumen: Andy Matz
  • Van Driver: Marc Vroomans
  • First Aid: Matt Sainsbery

Note on Iron Mike results – across the line results are correct for Saturday’s handicap, but the times for D, E and F grades are incorrect. The committee is working to find the bug in the RMS app that has caused this inconsistency.
