Calling for Volunteers

Firstly, thank you for supporting our 2026 winter road racing season. Our club relies on riders helping riders, and we need a few volunteers to help keep the races running safely and smoothly throughout the rest of the season.

For the remainder of the winter season, we are looking for:

  • Race Directors
  • Finish Line Marshals
  • Traffic Controllers (ETC-certified)
  • Van Drivers

Without volunteers filling these roles, we risk not being able to run races, so we’re asking everyone to consider giving back to the club for a day. The more people who share the load, the easier it is for everyone to enjoy a full race season.

If you can help this weekend or volunteer for any race during the season, please reply to the committee mailbox (copied) or go to the volunteer calendar at: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1pkECTVAgOENts06YdwLNOaAI44JwQend/edit?pli=1&gid=1832900212#gid=1832900212

Thanks for helping keep our winter racing community strong and hope to see you out there soon.

NSW Old Federal Highway Race Cancelled 18 July 2026

Unfortunately, we are yet to receive the final approval from NSW Police in order to run this race. This, in addition to still needing a number of volunteers, means the Committee has decided to cancel this race. If you had entered for this weekend, we will move your entry to the next race, or to a race of your choosing.

Our next opportunity to Race in NSW will be on 15 August at Mountain Creek road. If you can help with that one, please let us know.

Club Kit Order

Thanks to Jimmy from MVMNT for organising our Club kit order. Please use the link below to place an order directly with MVMNT. We will keep this kit portal open until this Sunday 19 July. If you have any questions, please e-mail us at the Committee.

Race Report – Stromlo Forest Park

A crisp Canberra afternoon set the stage — cool air in the low teens becoming worse as the
day wore on. Perfect conditions for fast racing, sharp attacks, and a few brave early moves.
The kind of winter day where the legs sting early but the racing feels electric.
B Grade
Early aggression from Dougal Robertson and Marc Vroomans stretched the bunch thin, but
once the dust settled, a break formed and immediately looked dangerous. Craig
Lindenmayer saw this and made a difficult bridge, the trio worked smoothly, each rider
testing the others with little digs and pace changes.
Coming into the final straight, Vroomans unleashed his sprint, powering clear for a
commanding win.
Results • 1st – Marc Vroomans (510) • 2nd – Dougal Robertson (476) • 3rd – Craig
Lindenmayer (289)
C Grade – Early Fireworks, Late Drama
C grade wasted no time. Katie Gregory lit the fuse with a bold early attack, quickly joined
by Ian Preston. The pair worked well together, but the bunch wasn’t in the mood to let
anything go and reeled them in with purpose.
From there, the race simmered — riders watching, waiting, positioning — until the final lap
when everything ignited again. The bunch thundered toward the line, and Victor Boumard
launched a perfectly timed sprint to take the win, with Marek Bilski and Seymour
SavellBoss right on his heels.
Results • 1st – Victor Boumard (41) • 2nd – Marek Bilski (363) • 3rd – Seymour
SavellBoss (25)
D Grade – Break of the Day
D grade came out hot, with repeated early attacks forcing riders into the red. Eventually, three
riders broke clear: Jonathan Chowns, Michael Reppion, and Nick Boylan.
Once established, the trio committed — smooth rotations, strong pulls, and just enough
tactical hesitation to keep things interesting. The bunch never saw them again.
In the final run to the line, Chowns proved strongest, taking a wellearned victory ahead of
Reppion and Boylan. Results • 1st – Jonathan Chowns (38) • 2nd – Michael Reppion (364) • 3rd – Nick Boylan
(182)
E Grade
With only two riders, E grade rolled out alongside D grade. Ian Morton and Chris
Copeland dug deep to stay with the faster bunch, hanging on through the early surges before
eventually being distanced.
From there, it became a two rider battle of pacing, grit, and winter day determination. Morton
held strong to take the win, with Copeland finishing close behind.
Results • 1st – Ian Morton (278) • 2nd – Chris Copeland (547)

Thanks to the volunteers Ryan Fawke (1st Aider) Phillip Martin (Marshal) as well as the ever-
reliable Ian Hutchings on setup and camera.
