Annual General Meeting

The Veterans Cycling Club Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on Monday the 3rd of April with around 30 or so members attending.

The main business of the night was of course the election of the Committee for 2017 and I thank those that stood for the positions. All positions were filled with some Committee members stepping down and other new, or possibly recycled, members stepping up to help the club. I thank all nominees for volunteering. Without their efforts the club simply could not run.

The members of the 2017 Committee are;

  • President: Dougal Torrance
  • Vice president: Mark K Taylor
  • Club Secretary: Phillip Coulton
  • Treasurer and Membership: Kirsti McVay

The new Committee is due to meet for the first time tonight in order to progress the Gunning 2 Day race in May – I hope you’ve all started training by now!

Much of the discussion of the evening was around growing the club, increasing numbers, particularly on the road and track, and discussions around our signature event, the Gunning 2 day race. Part of the discussion was around the promotion of the race to other Veterans clubs and the potential of offering prize money. I value your opinions on these and other options to promote the club and increase the number of members riding with us. Please send any feedback that you might have on these issue to me at president@actvets.cc

Finally the Winner of the Photo Competition was Howard Moffat, in particular his shots of the Crits. Howard’s photos will be used to brighten up the web site. Tim Minehan threw us a curve ball however by producing some fantastic videos of the Track and Crits. If you’re not already on the Vets Facebook site I suggest you join up just to see the footage! Thanks very much to both Tim and Howard. Next year we’ll be looking for new shots. Keep your photos coming and we may use them from time to time on the site as well.

Regards,
