Calling for Volunteers
Firstly, thank you for supporting our 2026 winter road racing season. Our club relies on riders helping riders, and we need a few volunteers to help keep the races running safely and smoothly throughout the rest of the season.
For the remainder of the winter season, we are looking for:
- Race Directors
- Finish Line Marshals
- Traffic Controllers (ETC-certified)
- Van Drivers
Without volunteers filling these roles, we risk not being able to run races, so we’re asking everyone to consider giving back to the club for a day. The more people who share the load, the easier it is for everyone to enjoy a full race season.
If you can help this weekend or volunteer for any race during the season, please reply to the committee mailbox (copied) or go to the volunteer calendar at: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1pkECTVAgOENts06YdwLNOaAI44JwQend/edit?pli=1&gid=1832900212#gid=1832900212
Thanks for helping keep our winter racing community strong and hope to see you out there soon.
Club Kit Order
Thanks to Jimmy from MVMNT for organising our Club kit order. Please use the link below to place an order directly with MVMNT. We will keep this kit portal open until Sunday 12 July. If you have any questions, please email us at the Committee.

Memorial Handicap Race Report
A cold and somewhat windy winter’s day greeted our 27 riders to contest the Memorial Handicap. Some were questioning why Rob’s handicaps were so huge! Others were wondering why they weren’t bigger! Nonetheless, we did our best to stick to them despite a slightly delayed start. Chris and Polly were off first, with a 35-minute head start on A grade. The duo soon split up on lap one with Chris taking off up the road to set his own pace.
Next off were Allan, Liz and Russell with a 25-minute head start on A. The stuck together well initially but also would eventually split up to ride their own races with Russell charging off to finish 5-minutes ahead of Liz and 7-minutes ahead of Allan in the end.
D grade must have thought this was a bye-round, with only Owain taking the start line on this occasion. Never afraid of a time-trial, however, Owain set a steady tempo for the entire race to finish a solid 14th.
We then had the first real bunch of the day, with C grade taking the start line with 8 starters. Unfortunately, they were unable to work together cohesively, with Josh Quilliam and Brendan Sears reportedly setting a tempo that was unsustainable by their bunch counterparts. This resulted in DNFs for Simon, Victor and Ed, while Josh finished in 5th followed by Dave B in 13th, Brendan in 15th, Ian P in 16th and Mick H in 20th.
Next up, B grade with the biggest bunch of the day. 9 riders set off and we were questioning how well they would actually work together. They looked tight and fast heading down towards Uriarra Crossing for the first time, but it was the climb back up that would split them in two, and then further split them up into ones and twos as the race progressed. Chris and Andrew called it quits after two laps, while Matt Benedetti and Tristan Fuge finished strongly on the podium and Simon, Julian and Kurt finishing in 7th, 8th and 10th followed by Nathan in 12th and Rowan in 17th.
A grade had the largest task of the day, chasing down that 35-minute time gap to F grade. They started with 4 and after lap one were down to 3 with Mat Corby pulling the pin. Steve Crispin, Matt Darling and Ben Morrison would continue to work hard with the occasional appearance of Jeremy G-W on filming duties. It appeared as though the time gap may just be too big for them to reel in, but with one lap to go it started to look possible. By this stage most of the bunches had splintered to be all over the place and it was game on heading down to the Uriarra Crossing turnaround for the final time. Those pinches coming back up must have hurt on that final stretch with Steve Crispin appearing first on the long home stretch to take the win followed by B grade’s Matt Benedetti and Tristan Fuge in 2nd and 3rd, with Ben Morrison in 4th, C grade’s Josh Quilliam in 5th and Matt Darling in 6th.
Thanks to our volunteers on the day Andrew Hislop, Tony Hrstic, Alison Hale, Andrew Remely, Jonathan Chowns, Michael Fawke and Matt Sainsbery.
