Calling for Volunteers
Firstly, thank you for supporting our 2026 winter road racing season. Our club relies on riders helping riders, and we need a few volunteers to help keep the races running safely and smoothly throughout the rest of the season.
For the remainder of the winter season, we are looking for:
- Race Directors
- Finish Line Marshals
- Traffic Controllers (ETC-certified)
- Van Drivers
Without volunteers filling these roles, we risk not being able to run races, so we’re asking everyone to consider giving back to the club for a day. The more people who share the load, the easier it is for everyone to enjoy a full race season.

Race Report – Mountain Creek Road Race C Grade
Eight riders lined up in C grade for the CRMCC Mountain Creek Road race on a sunny Saturday afternoon in August.
Ian Preston – who else – put the foot down on the first pinch on the out leg of the first lap before Andrew Lubbock kept the pace up on the gradual ascent. Here two riders – Marek Bilski and Mick Hanbury – were dropped and not to be seen again with the group.
A group of six was at the first turnaround marshalled by Andy Matz and not far afterwards Victor Boumard dropped his chain, which unfortunately meant his race with the front group was done.
First time up the return climb was a test to see who had legs, who were Ian, Andrew, James Bennett and myself (Ed), with Brendan Kelly just off the back.
Brendan rejoined on the roll to the end of the first lap.
Presto gave it a nudge on the first pinch of the second lap where the five were stretched while Andrew again took up the pace duties on the longer incline on the out leg. Brendan rejoined during this stage and turns were taken to the turnpoint. Brendan dictated the pace to the return climb where the five crested it close enough for no gap and riders took turns to the end of the second lap.
Heading out for the final lap James and Brendan were keeping a moderate pace where Presto decided to up the speed ahead of the first pinch with Andrew, James and myself joining him over the top with Brendan off the back.
Andrew, Ian and myself kept the pace along the slow incline so Brendan could not rejoin us as we would not want him nor James for a sprint finish. A group of four turned for the third and final time where the pace to the last major climb was set by James. Ian and myself went to the front on the climb and were able to crest it with a gap to Andrew and James. We kept rolling on the descent so those two could not rejoin us and took turns on the rollers past the sheep grid.
On the second last pinch I decided to give it a nudge and saw the shadow of Ian drifting further behind me, then kept the pace before giving it what I had on the final one to increase the gap and hold off to the finish line with the subsequent place getters – Ian, James, Andrew and Brendan – all rolling in separately.Thanks to the committee for organising the race on this wonderful NSW course. Hopefully this course is an annual feature on the club’s calendar.
Also kudos to the volunteers so we can race on the road.

Next Race – Lookout Hill Time Trial 29 August 2026
This will be our Age Standard Time Trial from 1:30PM Saturday. We have one ETC spot to fill. Ed had to pull out due to family commitments. If someone is able to fill the spot, it would be greatly appreciated.
There will be separate categories for Aero and Standard Road Bike (non-aero) setup. A standard road bike setup is: – Drop handlebars only (no aero bars or clip-ons) – No time trial or triathlon bikes – No disc wheels
20km TT course. Two laps of – Lookout Hill 3.5km toward Tharwa, U turn, 5km toward Point Hut, U turn back to Lookout Hill.
Google maps calls this Lambrigg’s Lookout, on Tidbinbilla Road about 2.5 km towards Tharwa from Point Hut / Tidbinbilla Rd intersection (or about 4.5 km from Tharwa village).
