Calling for Volunteers
We are fast approaching the end of the Winter season! That means the Summer Road season is coming and so are Tuesday evening Criterium races! Please check the RMS calendar and fill up the Road Race volunteer spots so we can lock those in. Keep an eye out for the Crit season races to appear within the next few weeks and pick your volunteer date to get that out of the way. We will also be offering a Crit Season pass again this year. More information to come on pricing and how to purchase.
For the remainder of the year, we are looking for:
- Race Directors
- Finish Line Marshals
- Traffic Controllers (ETC-certified)
- Van Drivers
Without volunteers filling these roles, we risk not being able to run races, so we’re asking everyone to consider giving back to the club for a day. The more people who share the load, the easier it is for everyone to enjoy a full race season.

Club Kit order update
Jimmy from MVMNT has advised us that our order has been delayed due to the manufacturer relocating their factory during the month of August. Production of the order is now due to be completed mid-September, with delivery expected soon after that. Thanks for your patience. The kit will definitely be worth the wait!
Race Report – M&H Perpetual Trophy Age Standard Time Trial
A lovely Sunny August afternoon greeted our 6 volunteers and 7 riders. At least rider numbers just outweighed volunteers. We had trophies on offer, so the race against the clock was on! Even a cow on the side of the road couldn’t take their focus off the prize. Despite Katie Gregory only needing to finish the event to win the trophy, she put in a solid effort off the back of a night out on the not-so-performance-enhancing-drinks. Unsurprisingly, Katie went on to take out the Women’s trophy (see photo below). The Men’s trophy was more up in the air. Defending champion Steve Crispin was on the comeback trail from injury, and fellow A Grade rider Jason Irwin was at a distinct age disadvantage when factoring in Age Standard times. These two would still be hot favourites on the day for fastest time and Age Standard winner. Five riders would end up getting under their Age Standard times, showing the great depth of our members. Craig Lindenmayer put in a strong ride as always to pick up 3rd fastest time on the day, but it was Michael Fawke who would effectively take out 3rd step on our Age Standard TT podium. Jason Irwin took out 2nd fastest time and 2nd place on Age Standard time. Finally, Steve Crispin took out fastest time and the Men’s Age Standard Champions trophy (see photo below). Thanks to our volunteers Kim Malcolm, Ian Preston, Dan Lekhac, Ryan Fawke, and special mention to Michael Fawke and Ryan for salvaging the times from photographic evidence to give us the results shown below, after I failed to operate the old timing devices properly. See you all next weekend at Sutton Driver Training Centre!

Next Race – Sutton Driver Training Centre 05 September 2026
This race will be going ahead regardless of the number of participants.
Six races will be held over the winter season at the Sutton Driver Training Centre, with riders accumulating the points gained as per the list:
1st 10 points
2nd 8 points
3rd 6 points
4th 4 points
5th 3 points
6th+ 2 points
This scoring system differs from the RMS. 10 points will still be awarded to the winner even if only one rider starts the race.
Riders with the most points accumulated at the end of the series will be crowned grand champions for their grade.
Here are the main rules:
- The final round will be worth double points and riders that participate in all races will get a bonus 12 points.
- Prizes such as gift vouchers (subject to local business generosity) will be presented after the final race for first, second and third places.
- Riders must compete in the final race to receive a prize and be present at the prize ceremony.
- Riders who are promoted will take half their points with them to the higher grade.
- Point scores will be kept for each grade and updated after each round.
- If more than one rider finishes with the same final score, a count-back of the overall results will determine the higher place getter.
- The races may not all be scratch races, with a points race as another option.
- Volunteers will get 2 points in the series and still be eligible for the bonus 12 points for participating in all races in the series.

Every kilometre ridden and every dollar raised helps Hartley Lifecare continue providing opportunities and support for people with disability in Canberra. This year’s route takes riders on an unforgettable two-day journey from the 20-21 of November through Canberra and the surrounding region, showcasing iconic sights, scenic landscapes, and welcoming local communities.
