From the Desk of the President
Hi members
I thought I would update you about lots of things simmering away in the Club’s headquarters.
The committee met for 2 hours on Mon night to discuss a range of things, some highlighted below. We didn’t meet in August because we didn’t reach an attendance quorum to hold a meeting.
My plea to you is that we are very short-staffed, and currently we have vacancies in the VP and Secretary roles. David Buckley, Simon Costello, Michael Fawke, Rob Langridge and I are juggling things, while David Parker is looking after the Bleat. If you feel like you would like to contribute to the running of the club, or get a glimpse of it, please contact me or any of these committee members. We have 3 more monthly committee meetings before calling the Annual General Meeting in late January / early February 2026 to disband the 2025 committee and form the new one for 2026.
If serving on the Committee is not your cup of ketones, then please consider other ways in which you can help. Earlier in the year I circulated a list of specific skills and tasks that we are seeking from members on a regular basis.
• developer skills in SwiftUI Xcode on Apple devices
• experienced and confident ETCs who can interpret TMPs and provide advice to other ETCs on course setup ahead of race day
• Members with ETC experience, who can liaise with ACT Govt to correct and provide feedback on inaccurate and out of date TMPs
• Van driving orientation for new drivers
• SFP and van container caretakers- members who can take inventory of equipment , ETC signage, and move equipment to and from and the van and SFP (e.g. the clock timer), and organise repairs when necessary
• Documentation – creating / updating instructions for volunteers
• Management of Google drive – do an archive, re-structure if needed, update to enable us to publish links rather than email documents every time
• Willingness to learn how to do submission of TMP requests to ACT Govt and support the race approvals process working with other committee members
• Quality improvement coordinator– collate improvements, record and possibly action suggested improvements from races
• Comms-like person who can advise the committee on our Bleat, FB page, socials and website (we may have 1 taker already, we will be back in contact with you).
• Configuring races into our RMS Race Calendar via PC and web browse quarterly.
Thank you to the many volunteers who have come forward this year to help out at races. Not only is it annual requirement of maintaining your volunteer status of helping with 1 race, but it’s a prerequisite for race eligibility. To make it equitable for all members of the club, we are now actively monitoring those who have not volunteered at all, or in the distant past, so please step up before you receive a tap or an email from me or other committee members.
For those who have volunteered since 1 January 2025, the committee has been developing policy and creating a currency of volunteer credits, that might be known as ‘Masters Money’, or ‘Vets Vice’. For those volunteers not yet rewarded for their services in 2025, we are working on retrospectively awarding you with credits so you can use these for pay as you go race entries, or towards the purchase of a crit pass or track pass, in combination with real money. We will have more information soon on this next phase of our club’s evolution to reward volunteerism by giving back to our members, while you fulfill your minimum obligation as a good club citizen.
With spring, comes the announcement that crit season commences on Tues 7 Oct and will involve 21 criterium races at SFP including the Christmas wheel race qualifier on 16 December, and the Club crit champs in February 2026. We have set a price of $130 for the annual crit pass, noting that you will need to be a financial member in 2025 and in 2026, and a member in good volunteering standing to maximise full use of the seasonal crit pass. We have the crit races lined up and ready to publish in our RMS calendar, and we will be doing some development testing of our volunteer credits, before making it operational. You will be able to buy your $130 crit pass with your credit card online, or using a combination of volunteer credits and cash.
Around mid-October 2025, we expect to see the reduced priced racing membership of $99 (same price as last year) for those new or renewing members wishing to join us financially for racing up to and including the Christmas criterium wheel race qualifier on 16 December 2025, or the equivalent track wheel race on 18 December 2025. For the track program, Michael Langdon is back helping carve out the program in the RMS with Graeme O’Neill directing, and Phil Coulton making the velodrome bookings.
In late December as in previous years, we will hear from the national committee as to the pricing for the 2026 race memberships. We are hoping that these will remain in line with what we paid in 2025.
I hope to see many members contesting the Club’s road championships this Saturday. We have the magnets all lined up, but we’re in dire need of ETCs to run the race.

Next Race – Club Championship – Uriarra Homestead – 06 September 2025
Our next event is the Club Championship at Uriarra Homestead
Enter here https://rms.crmcc.org.au/calendar?5025446
Cost is $10, with registration closing at 5pm on Friday 05th September.
The club needs 20 riders registered for the event to proceed
Sutton Super Series
Six races will be held over the winter season at the Sutton Road Training Centre, with riders accumulating the points gained as per the list :
1st 10 points
2nd 8 points
3rd 6 points
4th 4 points
5th 3 points
6th+ 2 points
This scoring system differs from the RMS. 10 points will still be awarded to the winner even if only one rider starts the race.
Riders with the most points accumulated at the end of the series will be crowned grand champions for their grade.
Here are the main rules:
- The final round will be worth double points and riders that participate in all races will get a bonus 12 points.
- Prizes such as gift vouchers will be presented after the final race for first, second and third places.
- Riders must compete in the final race to receive a prize and be present at the prize ceremony.
- Riders who are promoted will take half their points with them to the higher grade.
- Point scores will be kept for each grade and updated after each round.
- If more than one rider finishes with the same final score, a count-back of the overall results will determine the higher place getter.
- The races may not all be scratch races, with a points race as another option.
Riders intending to compete in the series should make themselves familiar with all the rules. Any feedback will be welcome prior to the first race but it won’t be possible to make changes to the format after that.
